Sixth Street Partners has played a key role in both the business and sports sectors in Spain in recent years. In 2019, it acquired the Ferroatlántica industrial complex in Cee-Dumbría, along with ten hydroelectric plants, for €170 million. Later, in 2023, it sold these facilities to the Czech company ENERGO-PRO.
Additionally, Sixth Street has been crucial in financing Spanish football clubs. In 2022, it purchased 25% of FC Barcelona’s television rights for the next 25 years, in two transactions totaling approximately €607 million. This capital injection allowed the Catalan club to strengthen its squad in the transfer market.
At the same time, it established a partnership with Real Madrid, acquiring 30% of the revenue from the renovated Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. This deal aims to boost the stadium’s commercial exploitation and diversify the club’s revenue streams.
These investments reflect Sixth Street’s strategy of engaging in key sectors in Spain, providing capital and expertise to drive growth and financial stability for the entities it collaborates with.
